How to write a story

How to write a story which will captivate reader’s mind?

Writers having flair of writing stories, tell the audience their compelling experience through the use of exemplary words. But being an amateur, can anybody start writing stories? Is it possible to write a story?

Here are few of the easy ways that can help you in writing an interesting story! With practice, interest and dedication it should not be hard to master the art of storytelling.

Easy way of writing a compelling story

1.List down ideas:  To start writing a story, a genre, a topic must be selected. It becomes easier to select a topic to write upon only if ideas are listed down. Brainstorming ideas for an essay is the best way.
Stories can be fiction, nonfiction, thriller, adventurous and many more. It completely depends on your interest and your way of expressing an idea.

2.Develop a theme for the story: Once the genre of the story and the idea for writing is selected, then a theme must be decided. A theme sets the story to the right path. It gives clear idea of what the story is all about.

3.Build characters for the story: Once a theme is set for the story, the next step is to build characters around the plot or theme.
Various characters, their characteristics and their role in the story must be decided here. The essential part is to give prominence to each character that is brought into light.

4.Have strong dialogue between characters: Usually a short story will have conversations or dialogues between them. The presence of these dialogues will light up the story and give a background to it.
Hence there must be a strong delivery of dialogues between the characters.

5.Use show don’t tell theory in your story:  Emotions are to be shown rather than describing them in words.Emotions always have hands down because people can always relate to them.
Hence the theory called “don’t show, tell” must be applied here. For example, love between a son and a mother must be depicted with more emotions how their bond resides for eternal time.

6.Have a conclusion: A compelling story will always have a conclusion. Like how an essay ends with a convincing conclusion, here a story must also end with a dynamic conclusion.

7.Read short stories to write such: A writer cannot write unless, he/she reads. To write brilliant stories, such stories must be first read.
Reading more will increase creativity and the thinking capacity to write more. Hence to write more, you need to read more.

8.Have a life lesson hidden in your short story: Every story must that ends well must have a life lesson. Teaching people something valuable must be the motive of creating stories.

9.Have a hero to your essay:  Hero of an essay can be anything, the elements of the story, the story plot, the characters, the dialogues. Thus to make a story successful, it must have a hero element added to it.

10.Create an interest towards the reading:  For example, a story with detective plot must contain suspense, thrill and the hook which keeps the readers continue till the end. Such interest must be created while a story is being written.

11.Edit your work: Once the work is drafted, it must be edited. Editing a work is duly necessary as the story might have content which should be revised or has few of the elements that need to be discarded.

12.Proofread your work: The last stage to writing a story is to proofread the work. This stage is very important as it abides by all the rules to make the story a success.
Even the tiniest mistakes, silliest errors are corrected in this stage. Hence proofreading becomes an important tool.

13.Include necessary elements: The necessary elements of a story are its plot, theme, characters, storyline, the title, the outcome. These must be included in every story that you write.

14.Include real life incidents : Some of the best stories are the one which have real life incidents included in them. These will bring the righteous issues to broad light at the same time will have huge impact over the readers.

15.Maintain the tone: The tone of a story from the start till the end must remain the same. It should be noted that, using neutral tone has always helped in writing a great story.

These are few of the tips that can help you in writing a great story. Start writing your own!
